Orlinoye Gnezdo Hill
Orlinoye Gnezdo Hill Vladivostok Reviews
Best observation platform of the city Oct 26, 2013
Orlinoye Gnezdo (The Eagle’s Nest) hill is one of the main symbols of the capital of the region. It’s not only the highest point of the old city, but also its geographical center. The main television tower, the radio-transmitting center is located here.
The highest point of this geographical object reaches 199 m above sea level. The television tower can be seen from all ends of Vladivostok. The 180 meters tower, shining flashing lights like a Christmas tree, is one of the night city symbols.
From observation platform of the hill opens a delightful view of the central part of the city and the cable-stayed bridge across the Golden Horn Bay. Also you can see Russky bridge footing from here.
On the July, 1 2006 there was opened the only monument on Russian Far East dedicated to founders of Slavic writing saint brothers Cyril and Methodius. Behind the sculptural group there is a bell tower topped with a gilded dome and a cross.
This observation platform is often visited by newly married couples, which are hanging up the locks as a symbol of strong love. So there are lots of them now on the ropes holding the monument.
