Transportation cost in Hong Kong is pretty cheap compare to other European countries orUS. Metro network and bus routes are very well developed and covered almost thewhole HK. You absolutely do not need to worry about the complexity of transportation network since it's far less complicated than London or New York. So if you can manage those, you'll be very fine in HK. Check out this site to get the cheap metro pass http://www.mtr.com.hk/eng/train/ae_tourtickete.htm. Metro is definitely the fastest way to get around.

For some oriental experience, you have to try riding on the tram on Hong Kong Island, which only cost HK$2 per ride which is unique on the Island that you cannot find in Kowloon or New Territories.

Also tryto get on the Star Ferry to travelfromCentral to Tsim Sha Tsui, these two places are must visitsin HK, do plan itas one of your night time activity to enjoy the fabulous night view of the harbourin thecheapest way.

Thanks Travelman727. Funnily enough we are staying right next to the mid levels escalator, so have been up and down it several times already, and I agree it is a good way to get around central and mid levels.

Nice review; Star Ferry is fantastic! Make sure you pay top price (still unbelievably cheap) to ride on the boat's top level.

My other favorite transportation is the escalator on Hong Kong Island. It's a great way to enjoy great views of Central and Mid-level districts for free.

Also, if the weather is good, riding on the top level of the British double-decker buses gives you great photo opportunities.
