The Oriental Pearl Radio & TV Tower is 468m high. It's the tallest TV tower in Asia as well as the most famous. It's one of the landmarks of the new Shanghai. From the tower you can see the entire Bund on the other side of the river. That was the centre of Shanghai during the western dominance (1842-1941).
The design of the Oriental Pearl Tower is unique in the world. The tower has been inextricably bound up with Shanghai. So you haven't been in Shanghai, if you don't visit the Oriental Pearl Tower! The Shanghai History Museum is located at the bottom of the Oriental Pearl Tower. That is also one of the Things To Do. Admission is included in the admission fee. |

I bought a train package(i.e USD16,RMB135),which includes the round trip train tkt crossing the Huangpu river,RMB100 worth entrance fee tkt to the tower.however,I found that there are actually few types of tkts to the tower offered at the tower entrance.1/the cheapest tkt is RMB100.(that's what i got)You may go up to the 1st sightseeing level of the tower and free entry to the museum at the bottom of the tower.2/tkt costs ard RMB150.other than the 1st sightseeing level n the museum, you could go up to the 2nd ball of the tower, which is the top level.Acconding to the description of the leaflets,it's a spaceship like model.I ain't too sure what kind of satisfaction you may get from it.3/tkt costs ard RMB260 per person for having either lunch or dinner up to their 360 revolving restaurant.it cost there.(I did't try it.food usually not good in any tourist landmarks,in my opinion)

The Oriental Pearl TV Tower is standing as a rocket from an early Tintin cartoon opposite The Bund as a sign of new times in China. The tower is build on the Pudong side of Shanghai and is something that makes me smile now that I got it somewhat distant from the experience I had when I was there.
The view from the top gave me the best impression of the magnitude of this city - It was almost impossible to see the end of it - and the number of skyscrapers for a guy that have lived in Copenhagen most of his life were breathtaking. We were lucky to come there a day where we both had a faily clear view and few visitor to compete with in order to get a clear view and an elevator down. I could imagine that in the heat of the summer that this place could be a killer. I think that the same rules apply here as of the Eiffel tower - be there early. You can also here chose to take one of three different levels - but go all the way up. Part of the Shanghai March 2007 travel blog |

Out of the 3 types of tickets, the cheaper 2 options should be satisfactory for most people. The most expensive option may be considered for dating purposes, but probably not for most travelers.
I went there at night and find the glasses too reflective and foggy to enjoy 100% of the view...going there during the day (and sunny) is probably better, I'm sure the view of Shanghai is worth the money. I also did ran into a tour group which makes the elevator ride bit more crowded. The Shanghai History Museum at the underground level might be more interesting for some, at least for me, it's about a hundred times more rewarding. Part of the Shanghai 2004 travel blog |

…English.
From the window of our hotel room, we saw the glory of Shanghai: the majestic and towering skyscrapers and the Oriental Pearl TV Tower, an image most Westerners would recognize. However, what we encountered on the street level, during our venture to Nanjing Lu, stood in sharp contrast. The world below the skyscrapers wasn't nearly as modernized. We passed by shop… read more |

The day I went to the Oriental Pearl TV Tower was unusually smoggy and therefore highly unphotogenic, but still fun since I had great company. My only failure in planning was the fact that the day I took my new ladyfriend Tina to Shanghai, it also happened to be Valentine's Day. Not only… read more |

On the other side, I was standing only a few hundred yards from the Oriental Pearl TV tower. So, yes, I went ahead. After that almost staggeringly expensive ticket (150rmb), I headed to the base of the tower. After going in, and a short line, I went through security, and I’m glad I’d left… read more |
