Well worth the climb... Apr 21, 2011
In total i spent 3 weeks in Morocco, climbing and trecking quite a few mountains. One thing i would say is that you may want to hire a donky or two to carry all your equipment.. My mates and i didnt as we went here as an expedition, so all of our equipment was on our backs.. OH MY GOD that was a different kettle of fish.
Ive still got to say that i enjoyed it (once i got my breath back anyway) The only climb we did do without weight was Mt Toubkal. At the base camp there are two lodges to go to for all the things you could want to need. bed showers toilet and food. i dont know if it was just us but it did seem a little bit clicky, maybe because we never rented a tour guide and had the moroccan army with us.
The climb was long going and you will get very short in breath if your not used to the high altitude. its not just a walk you will be going above the snow line and climbing up on the snow as well.. if you feel up to it the mountain does split off to another summit an the right hand side..
Once you have reached the peak and your photo on the cross, its so nice to just try and get your breath and take in the surrounding area.. The way down was loads of fun and much quicker as instead of walking down on the snow we slid down at a rapid speed ( stupid now but it was fun )...
