Rafting on the Deschutes
posted by:
Jul 08, 2006 - Feb 17, 2007
I drove to Oregon from the east coast of the USA almost five years ago to take a look around, and I’ve been here ever since. I make frequent trips to the little city of Bend, Oregon, on the banks of the Deschutes River. Bend is about 35 miles away from the little Central Oregon town where I’m currently living. After finally getting a break in the rainy weather I was able to give my digital camera a good workout in Drake Park. The pictures of Mt. Hood and other mountains of the Cascade...

I always hate leaving my sister it's strange because when we live close to each other we rarely see on another and when we live together we want to kill each other but when she moves away I hate it. Strange how that works.

Home for Thanksgiving!

It snowed last night!!! At least a few inches...but it's already melting pretty fast. Yay for snow!! I still haven't gotten that much homework done, and it's making me feel guilty. So I'm determined to get some done today! I hung out with friends Sunday night, had pizza and beer, and played cards. What more could you ask for?! One sucky thing though...my parent's kitchen ceiling started leaking Sunday morning; it had been raining constantly all weekend, so it has since stopped leaking, but no...

Portland Rocks...
posted by:

Portland Rocks. Not only was the eternal and infernal optimism of LP vindicated this time, we´d heard it from a lot of people in Seattle too. so, naturally, we´d built up high expectations. As it turns out, deciding how much time to spend in a place based on its size isn´t always the best ploy and it would have been nice to have had less time in Seattle and more time in Portland. Cést la vie. The wonders of travel by Greyhound introduced us on thursday to a woefully understaffe...

Thursday-  We got up early to try to make up some of the time we lost yesterday, we were packed up and on our way by 8 am.   It was easy to pack up because we barely unpacked..  just our tent and sleeping bags.  In fact, Tyler never unpacked at all, and slept through that entire campsite! We were already on the road by the time he woke up.  We headed on down into Oregon, our next destination is Crater Lake. It was time to give the Ridgeline an oil chang...

Portland... the fun part

Since I arrived in Portland I had so much fun, I did not even ralize the bad weather (it rains) I met up with two guys from seattle and we went to town. Portland is lovely although really really small (I have already seen most of it) I can absolutely recommend the science museum for kids it is amazing, no matther how old you are. The Northwest neighborhood in wich my hostel is is very green and there are lots of little cafes and shops to spend the money that you dont have. We spent the even...

Day 10 - part 2
posted by:

If you wish to feel welcome in Oregon, the road had painted letters of “Welcome to Oregon” and on the opposite, “Come Back”.      Now making a pit stop in Eugene, OR to fill our rumbling tummies at the Sundance Natural Foods. They have an amazing salad bar/deli for both raw and vegan foodists! Oh, hear our lips make sweet smacking noises! Departed  happily with several cloth bags loaded of various lefty greens and some one of a ki...

Portland, Oregon - Joys From the Freezing Tree Lighting Ceremony
posted by:

What can be said bout the Portland Tree Lighting?  A few years back I had stumbled up the Portland Tree Lighting quite by accident.  A friend of mine was visiting Portland with me around the holidays a few years back and we had met up with my friend Angie to show him the sites of Portland, Oregon.  Without knowing it, we showed him the Tree Lighting instead.  This happens to me a lot apparently; I also stumbled upon the Rockefeller Tree Lighting a few years...

I Dont Even Lose a day, but maybe a bag or two

Don't fly British Airways and transfer to Alaska Airlines. My bags have been lost in the midst of Christmas panic and neither airlines can tell me anything.  Its a sad day when you lose two bags of stuff from a Christmas eve in Kuwait.
