Orchid Gardens Nagoya Reviews
A green lung in a big city Mar 29, 2013
Having Aichi Prefecture as Japan's leading producer of orchids, Orchid Garden provides beautiful and exotic native flowers from Japan, Asia and other tropical regions. Various events and seasonal flower exhibitions are held throughout the year.
When you enter, there is an information desk with staff who speaks English. They were very helpful and showed me how to buy the entrance ticket from the ticket machine. Once you enter the atrium, the large conservatory, you are met by a strong, but beautiful fragrance. They have a large variety of orchids in all kinds of colours and shapes. Very beautiful.
After you are done looking and sniffing all the orchids, you exit the atrium and get out in the garden. The area is devided into several small gardens, English garden, Asian garden and three small green houses with orchids from Southeast Asia, Latin America and Africa (these are the lands of the the origin of the European orchid). I can see how this is a beautiful garden when it starts to bloom. Being the end of March it was too early for most of the flowers, so it looked a bit grey.
In the exhibition building , which is inspired by Mr Agyona's living space, you can relaxe and feel at home in the study.
When you exit the garden there is, of course, a flower shop with seasonal orchids, both real and some made of silk.
The Orchid Garden makes a good place for a peaceful stroll, but make sure to come when there are more flowers in the garden outside.
