While we were driving from san francisco to las vegas, we wanted to have a stop at santa barbara as well. But somehow we arrived at midnight, so it wasn't worth to sleep at an hotel. We decided to get at room at the Orange Tree Inn.

We paid 112$ for a double-bed room. We were 3, so each of us had to pay like 40$. WELLLL compared to an hotel it's not cheap for a motel, if you can get a nice hotel for 120$ a night. BUT the motel was totally fine.
It was super clean, the guy at the lobby, was friendly and talkative, and the area seamed to pretty totally safe as well.

The room had 2 big beds, 1 lcd tv, a clean bathroom with shower (fresh & clean towels).

The location was very good, because the motel is located on mainstreet, and only half a mile or 1 mile away from the bars and nightclubs. Most of the motel customers were familys or couples, not just truckers.

I don't know what the room rates of other hotel in santa barbara are, but if they'd be quite expensive, i wouldn't mind booking a room for several nights at the orange tree motel.
