Orakei Korako is also known as The Hidden Valley. It's near Taupo, and easy to get to. On arriving, there is the office that sells the tickets, and a small ferry that take you crossing the river to start looking at the place. It is a private owned place.
There is a small walk around bubbling mud, colourful earth, lot of hot esmerald water, and a geiser that if you are lucky can see working.
A very nice place to visit for every age.
