Only 4 Senses Brussels Reviews
A blind date May 21, 2010
Only 4 Senses is a concept restaurant, where the idea is to savour a meal without the distraction of site. You enter the restaurant below the Hubert Galleries and start with a drink in the Brussels art display hidden below.
When the sitting starts, you meet your blind waiter, trained by the Ligue Braille. You then rest your hand on your waiter's shoulder and they lead you through heavy black velvet curtains into a room in pitch darkness. The entire meal is then served without any light. Your waiters serve you meals, give advice on how to eat and drink without sight and afterwards chat with you at the table.
The most interesting part of the experience is talking to your neighbours without seeing them, while eating without any visual reference points. The food is very good, and expect to be quizzed on it later by the chef (you are not told in advance what it is, but they do offer vegetarian meals). Overall, a very unique and valuable dining experience.
Reservations are compulsory and require a deposit paid in advance. Also note that the event is only held a few days every month.
