The tribes in the Omo Valley Aug 14, 2014
One of the highlights of my trip to Ethiopia have been the tribes in the Omo Valley. There are many different tribes where you will see different villages, customs and colorful body paintings. The most impressive tribes have been the Mursi and the Hamer. The Mursi are famous for the lip plates and the body painting/decoration. The Hamer are very interesting because of their customs. If you are lucky, there will be a Bulljumping. If you have the chance to attempt such an event - go for it ! In Turmi try to find Bali. He lives in a village around 6km out of the town. His tribe welcomes tourists and you can spend a nice evening with them and if you have your own tent, you can just stay there. When you visit the tribal Villages and want to take pictures, make sure you already changed the money in small ammounts because you have to pay for each pic you take of them. Even they have so much small bills, they dont like to change ...... Due to the high ammount of tourists, people try to get your money. Kids will come to you and ask you to buy them a ball, a book, shoes or clothes for the school. Everything is for around $10 ad they figured out, that this is the ammount tourists wouuld spend. After you bought them the stuff, they will bring it back to the shop owner and get some commision. Well, it is really hard to resist, as the kids are really cute.

As already for my Yemen trip, i used : to organize my tour.
