Omega Institute of Student Music Reviews
Very affordable, loud, small. Many (high school and Cologne uni) students. Apr 27, 2008
The "Omega" is one of the many discotheques you find down the "Ringe" in Cologne.
It's not the typical tourist trap; actually, most guests are high school students from the region or Cologne University students. There is no strict dresscode (don't show up in rags, but everything else is fine). The music played is mostly house music with some R'n'B and party hits here and there. Prices: Entrance is 5 Euro - usually though, it's zero when you bring something (it's usually posted on their website. For example, you could bring an egg last easter or a Christmas tree deco item on christmas). I dunno, maybe they think that's funny or it attracts people ... whatever ;-) There is always a minimum consumption of 5 Euro, which are holepunched in a cardboard card whenever you order something and then paid when you leave the club (the latter procedure results in loooong line-ups at the cashier at around 3am). The Omega is a good club if you put no great value to high-class interiors, to a very educated/rich crowd on the dancefloor and to being able to relax in a more quiet area. In case you just want to drink and rock, the Omega is your destination. Otherwise, you better go to one of the higher-class clubs down the "Ringe" street in Cologne: The "Diamonds", the "Triple-A", the "Starz" and "Nachtflug" are some of the well-known names. |
