Omback Chalets Pangkor Island Reviews
Peace by the Beach Oct 31, 2012
Omback Chalets- we stayed 8 nights at Omback Chalets, with air con and short three minute walk to Taluk Nipah beach and a 5-6 minute walk to Coral bay which is cleaner and nicer sand. We booked stayed in a double En suite room with small sitting area outside. We had a walk-in shower with western WC. They do have Wifi but this is not reliable, although after day two of no Wifi they did call the engineer to fix it. We also had a useful fridge in the room. They also offer laundry service which was not so cheap. Mopeds are another service you can hire from them, we hired two mopeds at 30rm each for the day and we took ours out at 11.00a.m. and didn’t have to return them until 11.00 a.m. the next day.
The price we started with included breakfast (80rm per night), which consisted of toast, scrambled egg, small hotdog style sausages, chicken mee, and pineapple slices (not on the same plate). Orange juice, tea (black) coffee, and pancakes. All of the above was buffet style, although on a couple of mornings we did get it freshly made.
Their other meals were not so good, their fish bar-b-q was cooked in advance and once again we got food that had been kept in buffet trays. The only other meal we had was fish and chips which was not cooked thoroughly and was cheap bread crumbed fish which had obviously been in the freezer for some time. The other meal was lemon chicken which was ok, and very sweet. Nothing to write home about, we chose not to eat there again as we felt other establishments on the main road offered choicer and tastier food for a lot less money.
As we had stayed quite a few nights we did end up with a discount which brought the price down to 70rm a night. The staff were very friendly and quite helpful. It would have been nice to have decent towels and our bin emptied other than on request. Our bedding was changed on day three along with our towels again on request.
To sum it up, it was a pleasant and fairly comfortable place to stay and very quiet during the week which suited us.
