Estadi Olímpic De Montjuic Lluís Companys Feb 06, 2017
Parc Montjuïc was the location for the 1992 Olympic Games in Barcelona. The Olympic Ring was originally built in 1927 ready for the International Expo in 1929. Then it was fully renovated in 1989. The Olympic stadium is a huge facility in the heart of the Olympic ring. It is named after Lluís Companys, the president of the Catalan government during the Spanish Civil War.

The Palau Sant Jordi is considered the most important element of the Olympic Ring in Montjuïc. It is a covered sports pavilion, designed basically for the competitions of athletic and rhythmic gymnastics and the finals of handball and volleyball of the 1992 Olympic Games. The Calatrava Telecommunication Tower was built in the Olympic Ring to improve communications.

We arrived by a private bus from Plaça Espanya and really enjoyed just walking around the area. There was the Montjuïc Castle and the Magic Fountain, too. We were the only visitors there at the moment, the whole area was quiet, totaly opposite of the other parts of the city.

The stadium is free to enter. There is a small shop selling sports related gifts and a café on site. The Barcelona's Hop-on Hop-off Bus Tour stops near the Olympic Stadium, too.

It's a nice thing to see if you're passing Apr 06, 2015
The Olympic park is quite nice to see but I wouldn't go out of your way to go here to be honest!

I went here on a hop on hop off bus and spent about half an hour here, the Olympic park behind the stadium is nice, but there is nothing to do there, it's probably just quite nice to sit there and relax with a book really! But I had far to much to do and didn't sit there and read!!

I went in April, so I'm not sure if it gets busier during the summer periods at the actual park, or if there's actually nothing to do there all year round??

There's quite a few things to see nearby, it's worth a stop if you are near, but I just wouldn't go out of my way JUST to go here.
