I had an amazing time in Peru. Spent time in Cusco, Ollantaytambo, Machu Picchu and Lima. Adjusting to the altitude of Cusco was unquestionably necessary. The people, their crafts and the ruins of this region are simply beautiful.

We set out on the third day knowing that this was to be the last day of serious treking (some 7/8 hours of walking ahead of us) and thinking that the hardest pasrt was behind us.  But the first part of this day´s walk is a really difficult steep ascent for the first hour or two, more difficult than the Dead Woman´s Pass in my opinion (or perhaps it just felt more difficult becuase of the tiredness from the day before!). KERRY -  Today we visited the Sacred Valley for the day before the start of the Inca Trail the next day. The first stop was at Sacsayhuaman, about 30 mins from Cusco. This site was a sanctury and temple of the Incas and was in excellent condition. The stones were huge at this site.
