Olio Restaurant Belfast Reviews
Great Food,Not So Great Service Feb 15, 2010
Had intended going somewhere else, but it didn't suit,so we found this nearby. Had a look at the menu, and prices ;), and semed OK so went in.
Very smart decor, with lots of little lights. Despite there being loads of empty tables, when we said we didn't have a reservation, we were made to sit in the waiting area until they found us a table :O. Two minutes later they had managed to find us one.
As usual a beer for me and cokes for the weans came first, though they don't do beer on draught, just bottles. The wee guy that did the drinks was pleasant enough, but not exactly a bundle of laughs.
Don't know whither it was the way we were dressed, most other folk seemed suited and booted,or because it was night and I was in with the kids, but the girl that came over to take the meal order was less than welcoming, to the point of almost being rude.
Stayed because couldn't be bothered tramping round looking for somewhere else.
I had the Chicken Yala,my boy went for the Grilled Trout, but dauughter wasn't really into eating and went for a pizza. Food came presented beautifully(maybe not the pizza not much you could do with that). Was really tasty.
A good selection of desserts, and two of us went for the Honeycomb Crunch while the other went for the Chocolate Fudge Gateau. All enjoyed there own, and it all came to £55, so not that dear.
Unlike most places though never felt the desire to have another beer after the meal.
Great food, in a nice setting, but service was pretty dire, but you might look as if you fit in better and get better treatment.
