Every Tourist will Visit Nov 04, 2012
Old Town (Czech: Staré Město) is a medieval settlement of Prague, Czech Republic. It was separated from the outside by a semi-circular moat and wall, connected to the Vltava at both of its ends. The moat is now covered up by the streets (from north to south-west) Revolučni, Na Příkopě, and Národni—which remain the official boundary of the cadastral district of Old Town. It is now in Praha 1.

Soon after the city was expanded in the 14th century by Charles IV with the founding of the New Town, the moat and wall were dismantled

Notable places in the Old Town include the Old New Synagogue, Old Town Square and Astronomical Clock. Across the river Vltava is the Lesser Quarter, called Malá Strana in Czech. These two parts of the town are connected by Charles Bridge. Josefov is located in the northwest corner of Old Town heading towards the Vltava.

The Astronomical clock is an amazing piece of engineering and is over 500 years old. Sipping a hot chocolate in the cafe opposite while watching it perform is one of those sublime moments - the hot chocolate was also very good.

you can spend the whole day in this place. it is so nice and alive. many restaurants, bars and nice settings all over the square plus the old clock every hour they have the show on the top of it.

It's going to be the place everyone visits.

Beautiful Mar 02, 2011
The most expensive part of Prague! It is something you must see. BUT if you want a place to hang out and have a beer, I would suggest hangout somewhere a little further from this area. It's kinda like a disney world tourist trap.

The centre of old Prague Apr 01, 2010
The Old Town of Prague is a rather large area full of classical buildings, built in either a medieval, gothic, baroque or Art Nouveau style. Since there’s hardly any traffic allowed in the Old Town and the streets still have a matching atmosphere, it’s lovely to walk around and enjoy all the details on the facades. It is advisable to bring a good travel guide that points out the best buildings or you will miss out on a lot.

The centre is the Old Town Square, which is lined with even more beautiful buildings. Highlight is the City Hall with the Astronomical Clock, although I though the hourly ‘Walk of Apostles’ at the clock to be a bit of a joke.

Just below the famous tower of the Tyn church, there is an entrance of a very nice combined exhibition of Salvador Dali and Alfons Mucha. You can choose to visit a separate exhibition or buy a combination ticket for both. Alfons Mucha is a Czech artist whose work is indissolubly tied to Jugendstil and Prague, so this is definitely a must see.

The Old Town Square is filled with cute stalls that sell souvenirs and all kinds of local food, it’s a great place to have lunch and try out the Prague cooking. The potato pancakes with cabbage are a good vegetarian option.
