The old Sir Lowry's Pass Jul 18, 2014
If you like a small hike this is a nice one, but I've heard it also can be done by mountainbike. I've walked there from Bezweni Lodge, this is on Knorhoek Estate so you will have to ask permission. From the lodge you take the path towards the railway, then follow the railway for a bit and turn left on to a small path going up to the old pass

At first it looks like just another mountain trail, that is untill you discover the grooves in the rocks that the ox waggons have made by putting on the brakes on their way down. You can hardly imagine how they ever got up this pass with those wagons as it is pretty steep. At the highest point of the pass you can see the big guns which had to protect the travelers and their goods. And the view up there is amazing!
