Old Man's Cave Logan Reviews
A Very Popular and Beautiful Getaway Mar 20, 2008
Old Man's Cave in Hocking Hills State Park is the winner for a great family adventure! Part of the six major areas of the park, Old Man's Cave is just one of the wonderful natural sights accessed by hiking trails. Old Man's Cave is about 1 mile long and takes about an hour of moderate hiking to reach.
The cave was named for an early settler, Richard Rowe. After the Civil War, Rowe took up residence in the cave. He later was killed by an accidental blast from his own gun, and the native Indians buried him somewhere near the entrance to the cave. With its many recesses, visitors are left to guess his burial site.
Today, many families and visitors trek to the Hocking Hills State Park and hike the many trails. Three of the most popular caves are linked together by one trail. On your way, nature will surround you! Waterfalls, wildlife, scenic views, and rock bridges and formations will provide many photo opportunities along the paths. Rich in forested areas and natural wonders, there are 25 miles of hiking trails at your disposal.
There are many places to stay in the area from cabins to lodges to primitive campsites. Many offer packages for week or weekend stays. Access the Department of Parks website for information.
All the family will enjoy this wonderful natural gem located in southern Ohio. Come for a day, two days, or a week! Guaranteed to delight the whole family!
