Old Dir'aiyah Dec 24, 2009
If you go to the city of Riyadh in Saudi Arabia, Old Dir'aiyah is one of the places you should visit. that place was the birth of the Saudi Kingdom when king Abdul Aziz captured Riyadh with Mohammed ibn Abd al-Wahhab even before the discovery of oil. You will be able to see the king's palace which was built of mud. Around the palace there's a huge space that used to be the execution space. Saudi Arabia used public beheading as the punishment for murder before. One of the biggest mosques in Riyadh is located in Dir'aiyah (El-Masged El Kabeer). The Saudi National Day takes place in Dir'aiyah and they perform with thier swords on thier traditional music. On the other side of Dir'aiyah there's a huge gold market that has hundresds of gold stores.
