Old Absinthe House
Old Absinthe House Reviews
Dec 24, 2007
The Old Absinthe House is located on Rue Bourbon and dates back to the early 1800's. Andrew Jackson and Oscar Wilde are among the former patrons, and original fountains used for absinthe drinks are still present. The layout is simply a bar, fireplace, and some standing room, while the walls are decorated with business cards from vistors throughout the years.
The bar is a great place to get some local feel, have some good converstations, and get your night started. The bartenders are friendly and take pride in preparing your drink; my sazerac was constructed in the proper manner and tasted spot on. Thus began a long, long day at the Old Absinthe… If alcohol offends you-don't come in! |

So, back over to the Old Absinthe House, where my Uncle had been since 11am in the morning. It was now about 8pm. This was one of the most fun nights ever. I decided to join my Uncle for one last haul at the Old Absinthe House. I am proud to say that I was the "last man standing that night." I met up with some new friends, had quite a bit of alcohol and headed back to the hotel at 3:30am. (Got just enough sleep to catch… Standing Ovation-Please! Pat O'Briens in New Orleans |

He is a bartender at my favorite bar, the Old Absinthe House, and has become one of my closest allies. It still surprises me that I have continued to meet my closest friends later in life, and Vin is definitley one of them.
