Okyumoto Hotel Dec 28, 2008
Okyumoto Hotel is located 10 minutes from the Yumoto hakone train station. It is your typical ryokan with tatami mats and very little furniture except for a small table and a television.
The hotel offers great kaiseki food which you can eat either in your room or in the hotels restraunt. We ate in our room and soon after finishing the staff came and set up our futon for us.(A Japanese matress laid on the tatami mats.) The hotel has its own indoor and outdoor onsen(hotspring). The onsen is very beautiful overlooking a handmade waterfall. The temperature of the onsen was not so hot so you can actually soak in the baths and relax. The ryokan serves a buffet breakfast with Japanese and western food. The hotel also has an outdoor swimming pool that you can use in the Summer which is unusal for a ryokan. The hotel has a karaoke bar but charges around 3000 yen entrance fee don't know if that includes any drinks or food but you find this is standard in Japan as its a bar that caters mostly for the Japanese men. The layout of the hotel is interesting the lobby is on the 7th floor even though its on the ground floor. My wife explained to me that because the hotel is built on a valley or hill not sure which, so the first floor is actually the one on the base of the valley or hill. The hotel provides a free shuttle bus leaving early in the morning to Yumoto Hakone station. Part of the Hakone is all that and more travel blog |

Hotel Okyumoto from the outside looked a little old but we were welcomed with a warm welcoming and check in went smoothly though we couldn't use the room until 2 pm but who wants to be stuck in a hotel room when you can explore… Hakone All that and more |
