I'm not sure if this was the first year of this Oktoberfest, but it sure seemed like it. Maybe in a year or two, it will be better, but I doubt I will go back for a while. The most telling stat I can share, is that there was only one beer tent. It did have the traditional Oktoberfest music, food and merchandise, but it was lacking in several areas. The location was a neat one between Saint Anthony Main and the Mississippi River, but it seemed like it was a bit constraining.
There are other local Oktoberfests that are probably better, i.e. the Gasthof's Oktoberfest which is just up the road. Located along the Mississippi River near St. Anthony Main and Riverplace, this Oktoberfest was scheduled for Friday, September 12, 2008- 4 pm to 9 pm and Saturday, September 13, 2008 - 10 am to 9 pm.
