Oklahoma State Capitol Oklahoma City Reviews
A pleasant art suprise Aug 16, 2013
Everytime I visit a new state capital city I try to visit its capitol building and OKC wouldn't be the exception. I had been here a couple of times before, but had never been inside it. What I thought would be a somewhat boring "more of the same" ended up being a very pleasant surprise in terms of art.
I can say I really enjoyed all the paintings by Wilson Hurley that decorate the building's main halls. He did a great job recreating the violent and sometimes serene weather of Oklahoma, by looking at his paintings you could really feel you were about to be hit my a storm, or in the middle of a field full of caddle.
There were also many other paintings resembling scenes of the history of the state, like negotiations with the natives, the life of the early white settlers and even the Spanish explorations.
Be sure that this Capitol Building has something different to others and it's a good stop by.
