Okapi Hotel Kigali Reviews
Okapi - quite okay indeed Jul 13, 2013
This is a good option in Kigali with a variety of rooms from very reasonable budget ones to higher-end ones, and even apartments. The rooms are all reasonably clean and come with attached baths, linen and TVs. However, wifi is not available in the rooms and one has to come to the reception area for that. And since some of the rooms are located two flights of stairs down, and there are no lifts, it is a bit of a tiring climb each time you need the wifi, reception or restaurant. This is because Kigali is a hilly city and some buildings, like Okapi, can be divided into several levels.
The restaurant in the hotel is actually quite decent - both for the free buffet breakfast served in the morning and for any meals during the day. The menu is good and the service decent. However, service at the reception can be variable. While some staff are informed and helpful, a couple are really slow and irritating. The location of the hotel is quite central though not as quiet, leafy or upmarket as for some of the other hotels. The hotel also has conference facilities and a nightclub in its basement. Overall, this is not exactly a 'wow' place but, still, quite a decent, comfortable and central option.
