... it's not a club, just a bar/restaurant ... May 05, 2012
I visited Ojala after the recommendation of the reception staff. The pictures I saw on the web made my expectations higher. However, keep reading ...
It has to be told that, this is not a club or a dancing/nightlife scene. More like a restaurant, and bar/pub kind of place to chill out. At main level where the entrance is, customers either can choose to hangout around the bar and stools, or choose a table to have a meal. Dinner starts at 8.30pm, so consider this before visiting.
I need to say, the staff is very friendly, however they cannot speak any English and they have no english menu. There was only one person who could help me and was able to take my order. And, they're way too laid back. I have waited at my table for someone who can help me about my order which took ages. Frankly, I was about to leave the restaurant but I convinced myself to stay after seeing the friendly gestures of the waitress who cannot speak any English, and waited for another one who speaks English. Anyway, you got the point.
If you're looking for a place to have some traditional food, again, you're in the wrong place. Their menu is not that rich and mostly like a fusion style.
So, my humble recommendation says, if you're hungry this is not a place for you. Have your meal somewhere else, make yourself full and then come here (if you're really craving to see this place) for a drink and chill-out.
By the way, they bring pate and bread (which was tasty actually) as appetizer, but they charge for it. And you see this in your bill. This is the restaurant trick I hate most.
The decision is yours...
