As tired as we were, we only had two nights at most if Ohrid if we were going to make it back to Croatia in time, so we headed out to the lake to look for a place to swim. It turns out that the house was about a 25 minute walk to the lake through town. Ohrid town is a nice little place, and is well equipped for tourists. There are grocery stores, restaurants, hotels and apartments for rent everywhere along the lakefront, and street vendors selling whatever kind of ice cream or t-shirt or k...

It was nice trip through Macedonia in 2007... Friendly people, ancient localities and excellent climate is all that is necessary to bring you back there in future!

Ohrid is a stunning place to visit. I remember everyone telling me about Ohrid and how special it is. Maybe cynicism comes with age but it really is beautiful. Everyone was spot on about Ohrid.Ohrid is UNESCO protected and there exists artifacts from this region from 5000BC.  We arrived in Ohrid very early in the morning to avoid the heat  (high 40 degrees!). One week in Macedonia

Here are some pictures from my holiday in Macedonia. We spent a few days in Skopje and went to Lake Ohrid for a day also

Ohrid is absolutely beautiful!!! Locals are extremely friendly and hospitable. It is very affordable. The lake is huge, it very much looked like sea :) It is very clear and great to swim in, though cold. Beaches could use some fixing up, the water is a little inaccessible due to rocks. All in all, I would definitely go back, this time by car though :) Check out some pics...
