O-H!

We headed down early for the 3:30 p.m. kickoff.  We were lucky enough to be given tickets (THANKS to Dan's Mom and StepDad!).  After getting through the normal game day traffic madness, we parked in our usual lot benefiting either special Olympics or the OSU wetlands project.  We made our way through the tailgaters to the stadium.  As you can see, I rubbed the spinney wet ball and met Mr. Ohio (them are some HOT pants, there Mr. Ohio).  We dropped by Heinygate (the ol...

On Monday morning, we went to downtown and walked around, went to one of the riverfront parks and enjoyed the Irish parade. It was very cold where we were watching if, on the Broad street bridge, so after the parade we decided to go where we were indoors. We went to the Polaris Shopping Center, it is very nice. Next day we went to the Art Museum and the Science Center. We spend the whole day in those two places, it was very enjoying. If you have children and are in the area the Science Center...

A Low Key Birthday
posted by:
May 04, 2008
My family knows the best way to celebrate my birthday is something low key.  The best gifts are being able to get out of bed in the morning and spending time with my family.  This year would be a wonderful day doing just those two desires.  After church, my husband and I drove to the Columbus Zoo to meet with our son, daughter-in-law and four granddaughters.  The zoo is a favorite family day.  Even though the zoo was hosting a big event and it was crowded, we s...

After about eight hours of driving through much of North East Ohio I finally reach home.  It was a fun trip but the weather was a little on the gloomy side.  Drizzly rain and cold tempuratures did not make for the most enjoyable trip but it is only the first day of many to come.  See you next time!

A quick coffee stop and to the dock.

We stopped at Spill the Beans coffee shop before heading onto the downtown ferry for Kelley's Island.  If you're looking for friendly atmosphere and a great cuppa' before heading over on the island, go to Spill the Beans.  It's within easy walking distance. The ferry runs (during season and weather permitting) every half hour.  I LOVE the ferry ride.  I love being on a boat.  The ferry cost both Dan and I $40.  That price included round trip for us and our bicyc...

Cincinnati Flying Pig
posted by:
May 14, 2006 - Oct 22, 2006
I can’t believe I did it! I can now say I am a half marathoner… last Sunday, my family traveled down to Cincinnati, Ohio for the Cincinnati Flying Pig Marathon and Half. I ran the half marathon (13.1 miles) in 2 hours, 21 minutes and 20 seconds… I would have liked to do better, but it was so hard to find time to train with school always keeping me extremely busy. But, I finished! And I am very happy about that. My dad ran the full marathon in 3 hours, 51 minutes and 53 seconds, b...

I sleep in on a bit on Monday but figure since I'm home I might as well go in and put the time in at work and save the vacation for a time later in the year.  Use the automated checking system every day to check on the status of my bag which remains missing.  Finally on Friday I get a phone call that turns out to be from the US Airways Corporate Offices in Pittsburgh.  Now usually when they find a lost bag, its transported on the next available flight and then delivered vi...

I hit the road on 5/29 and drove up into Ohio and parked at the Bush Creek State Park where I had stayed once before. This is a nice State Park right on a large lake. The reason for this location was the fact that it was close to Dayton and the Air Force Museum. I had visited this museum a couple of years ago and I spent a full day revisiting all of the different displays in this museum. Here the Air Force has collected samples of most of all of the planes ever put in service over the years....

The Idea

So I happen to be reading the New York Times website, its my homepage.  They had an article about how airlines were offering affordable flights that would take you around the world.  Of course being the curious person that I am I read the article for top to bottom and found out that United Airlines in conjunction with Star Alliance offered trips around the world.  So I went to Star Alliance's website and downloaded the application that would allow you to plan your perfect ...
