360-year-old Old Tokaido Inn Oct 12, 2012
Ohashiya Inn opened in 1649 is the only remaining Tokaido Inn that has been running inn business since Edo Period. Price for one-night stay is 10,500 yen or more. But it is hard to reserve because it has only six rooms available. It is also a Japanese restaurant and serves as unmissable landmark of Akasaka-juku area. It is OK just to drop by and get inside the Inn but you are asked to donate something. Ohashiya is best known by Hiroshige's woodblock print of Tokaido Akasaka station. Sago Palm tree drawn by Hiroshige was moved to Josenji Temple nearby.

Getting to Akasaka-juku: From Nagoya take Meitetsu Line bound for Toyohashi. Change trains at Higashi-Okazaki to local trains. Get off from Meiden Akasaka station. Old Tokaido area is about 5 to 10 minutes south of the station.
