Wandering outside city limits Mar 14, 2009
San Diego is a fun city to visit. Nightlife. Beaches. Restaurants galore. What more could you ask for? But if you're looking to add some adventure to your trip, follow me! If you want to avoid the crowds and soak up some scenery, drive up along Highway 101 that parallels the ocean and takes you through the little beach towns, giving you a taste of San Diego, outside city limits. If you don't have a car, hop on the coaster from downtown, that takes you up along the coast. Get off in Solana Beach or Carlsbad and take in the quaint little beach towns. Don't forget your swim suit! Walk down to the beach and soak up the sun's rays on the prettiest coastal areas of San Diego.

Hey thanks for the tip! I'm going in July. I can't wait to explore the city, and of course the beaches!

In fact, I was surprised at my couch potato son's level of interest. He asked me several times this morning..."When are we leaving… Hiking Cowles Mountain with my Billy Goat of a son
