Odette Estate Winery Napa Reviews
Gorgeous (and Expensive) Wines Sep 30, 2016
My love affair with Odette continues years later. I'm now a proud member of their wine club and a huge ambassador for their wines. The Adaptation line is still phenomenal (the 2013 Petite Syrah - OMG!) and I'm still a huge Odette fan and cheerleader.
Yeah, this is one of the only wine clubs in the valley where you have to pay to be a member (entry level is $250 per year), but the (albeit minimal) perks are nice and you are basically paying for your guaranteed allocation of Odette and the Odette Reserve. That's worth the money in my book!
Sometimes you'll visit the tasting room but can't taste the Odette wine. I think the staff should do a better job explaining why: Odette is highly sought after and hard to find, so the winery honestly DOES run out! Even as club members we only have a certain amount we are allowed to purchase each year. A great wine will always be hard to find so if you are lucky enough to taste the Odette, you'll understand. I do agree the winery should make visitors aware of this beforehand. Just ask up front so you won't be disappointed.
The tasting room is very sleek and I agree that some of the employees can come off as a bit aloof, but to me that really fits the attitude of the wine itself. And no, this is NOT an appropriate place to drag your kids: DON'T DO IT. Just DON'T! I've started to notice more and more people getting bent out of shape when the staff and other visitors start rolling their eyes when a family rolls up with a toddler or infant. I've also noticed an increase in the amount of wine "know-it-alls" throughout Napa Valley and especially in this tasting room. Be kind and your kindness will come back to you!
Over the years we have always been treated like VIP rock stars by Jess and Mercedes. Ask for them to host your tasting!
