The octopus card is offer in every metro station and right off the airport. You can pay every kind of transport there is with it and save at the same time.

Our suggestion;

TAKE IT!

We personely took the 150 HKD card travel in the MRT for 3 days with it and still had 33 HKD in the end on it.We don't think you should take the 220$ one unless your really think you'll use the express train To or From the airport or that you'll spend your time in the MRT (the bus is 33 HKD and you get to see HK before you leave).

Yep - you can now use Octopus on many vending machines (like, for a can of cola), 7-11, etc.

(They're great things) we guess those people that had queued for the tram to come up couldn't face the queue down and we only had a ten minute wait!! Off the tram we took a stroll to the area Adam… Second day in Hong Kong

  In the airport, there is a tourist information center at the arrival section where you can purchase the “OCTOPUS CARD”. It is a card at 150HK dollars, and allows you to board the train, ferry, and busses on the entire peninsula without the hassle of having to line up and purchase single journey tickets on every station/pier or carry around exact coins to pay when… Day 1 – Good things come to those who wait.

…some negogiations with a not very helpful guy at the customer service desk we discovered how to get to our hostel and what type of Octopus card we needed and set off. Missed our stop on the bus, so had to roam the streets of Hong Kong for a while before we found our hostel. Seems like a good hostel, but were too early to check in so dumped… City Break

”” We found the counter selling Octopus cards and all bought one for our transportation needs while in Hong Kong. We then headed off following the signs to the train station, and the train that would take us to Kowloon. I enjoyed the train ride, such beautiful clean trains (take note… Hong Kong bound
