Ocho Rios, Jamaica
Ocho Rios Reviews
Ocho Rios Dec 20, 2005
Jamaica, the land of the Reggae, bananas and marihuana :). Our expactions were high for this country. A lot famous comes from Jamaica.
We arrived in the harbor of Ocho Rios. Ocho Rios is a village/city at the northcoast of Jamaica. our guide told us that a few famous celebs live on the hill looking over Ocho Rios. We took a jeepsafari through the mountains near Ocho Rios.
A road through the Vern Gully leads us to the top of the mountain for a magnificant view on the bay where our cruiseship is located.
The Vern gully used to be a river, that's why it's that green/vern. Beautifull flowers and trees surrounding you, like a tropical rainforrest. Dragging the jeep through the mud to the banana plantations. Number one exportproduct of Jamaica. Toerism is upcoming. Still a lot of Jamaicans live in poverty. Some of the residents weren't amused. At the moment the guide tells Jamaicans are friendly people, one is showing his finger, yeah right :).
We also climbed Dunns river fall. A 600 metres climb up river. The river ends up the beach. It's fun to do, but not spectacular.
Jamaica is a beautifull island, but to dangerous for toerists to travel alone.
