Beep… beep… beep...
The ECG monitors broadcast their electronic heart beats as I walk down the corridor of the Cardiac Unit. Each beep represents a heart beat. I’m struck by the irony - life reflected in soulless monotone. As I pass each room, the acrid smell of iodine, infection and effluent flood my senses. I swallow my nausea. The loudspeaker crackles to life and blares a code blue warning. I know the routine. I press my back to the wall as a doct…

Kirsti & Barry picked me up 1st thing this morning from the hostel and we went for a day at Whitemans Park, 1st stop was the zoo, we fed the kangaroos again, then I got a cuddle with a Wombat, poor thing just wanted to go to sleep, instead it got passed around for photo opportunities.....then Kirsti managed to stitch me right up and told Emily I would love to go on a camel ride with her, there was no getting out of it...oh what fun! we went to see the Koalas, I thought I was going t…

Not a great deal to report here. The usual deadly 2 hours in an airport, but the 3 hour journey seemed a doddle compared to recent ones. Arrived at Cairns airport to blistering sun and the coach transfer to Port Douglas ready and waiting. One hour later, I was deposited at the Bay Villas apartments, just after 6.00 pm. And that's about that!

The second day in Sydney we met my friend Rowan for lunch. We went to Darling Harbour to a Thai restaurant, the food was good and I knew I will not see any Asian food for a while when we travel in the Northern Territory and in the North of Western Australia, so I was really enjoying the food!
Rowan, thank you for spending the afternoon with us (incl. the shopping part :-) ) - it was great to see you again!
In the evening we took the flight with Qantas to Darwin, that was…

So, what didn't you know about Sydney?1. The 'sails' of the Sydney Opera House are covered in bathroom tiles.2. There is no such thing as a pot in New South Wales, only a schooner. (Which is neither here nor there.)3. The top arch of the Harbour Bridge rises and falls about 180mm purely because of changes in temperature.4. The suburb of Newtown hosts an annual Gothic festival for families.
What else didn't you know? Comments about this particular blog (no matter how short!) are much app…

..so we ended up going to the falls rather karekare today. We just thought we'd have a quick walk up before heading off for the day. When we got to the falls it was so peaceful and serene we ended up staying and having a swim in the FREEZING water - thus ending all the serenity through our screaming :-)We got used to it though and it proved really exhilarating. We walked up to a few levels before coming home... and falling asleep for 3 hours!!!

Driving to Mt. Cook - spending a few hours hiking in the area. On the way back to Lake Tekapo, we got the idea of taking a flight over the area - probably the most spectacular scenery I've ever seen. It was an amazing flight - almost like a dream. If you think the photos look great - you should've seen the real thing!

My reasons to stay in Melbourne are to use it as a base for exploring surrounding regions such as Grampians National Park, explore wineries in the Yarra Valley and visit Dandenong ranges ,lazing on beaches on the Mornington Peninsula and drive the magnificent Great Ocean Road .
I spend my nightlifes in the parties scenes along Fitzroy Street with good international Restaurants and St Kilda who is famous for its beach life or in Bourke Street bar...
Otherwise, Melbourne has nothing to envy i…

We could only stay the one night at Adobe Motels as they were fully booked for the next night; our final night in Cairns, in Australia in fact for this visit. We decide it would be rather nice to go out for breakfast on the waterfront of Cairns, so we drove down to the docks at the begining of the esturary where there are several realy nice cafes with great outdoor dining facilities. We found a pleasant place to sit in the morning sunshine and watch the boats on the water while we enjoyed a c…

Got up early , 6ish, and caught a lift with some car owners down to a Ganthaman(?)Point south of Broome itself where the excitement is searching for the ancient dinosaur footprints in the rocks at low tide. It was great to get there so early to have the place to ourselves before the first (and only)bus of the day arrived at 8.30a.m.ish to drop off the poor HOT suckers who then had to walk 5kms or so back along the scorching beach. Boy am I glad I got a lift there and back into town! I L…

finally arrived in Brisbane but my trip is not over yet. I took the train from the international to the domestic airport and only a few hours to get on the next flight! At least I got some sleep on the plane so I felt quite awake! But I was not awake enough because I lost my passport!! I was so lucky that some one found it!
Here is the short story. While I was waiting in the launch I was keeping myself busy with getting things in and out my bag and double checking that nothing has fallen ou…

Day 2 In Fiji
So I woke up at about 4:00 in the morning (slowly getting used to the time zone) and watched the sunrise. Very nice. Then Melissa and I went to pick up Neno to go… skydiving! Originally it was supposed to be Melissa and I go up , and then Neno, but due to different complications, I had to go up with Neno. Fun part here – Neno is brazilian and has nice brown skin. HE jumped first. So I got to see what Neno would look like white. Then Rob (my tandem jumpmaster) wiggl…

Started this morning at 3.3am after an early night – last
night it started to rain and the sound of the pounding surf and rattle of rain
on the roof of the van helped me to one of the best night’s sleep I have had in
a long time. Woke up early (I guess I am still jet-lagged) so I decided to head
out early. The destination was Franz Joseph and Fox Glaciers. The drive was
great – in an already traffic lite New Zealand early morning meant
that I drove for 2 hours and passed not a sin…
