Ok I'll be honest I knew nothing about Heron Island before this trip. It's the typical dilemma of knowing and dreaming of foreign lands and not appreciating what is in your backyard. The only reason I've had the chance to go here, was due to my brothers advice. He was coming back to Australia for a…

Today I went white-water rafting on the Tully River. My raft
(Team F-Yeah) consisted of me, Louise (Aussie), Kristy (NY), Adam (UK),
Andrew and Craig (Canadians) and our Kiwi guide Sunny. The river
had huge rapids and we flipped our boat several times. I have so
many bruises, …

OK, so I got a bit sidetracked in Borneo and had to cut some corners in my itinerary: Australia got the chop in favor of New Zealand, I only stayed a few days in Sydney (I suppose close to a record for any tourist taking the trouble to go to other side of the world). First shock was the weather, it…

Queenstown, New Zealand -› Yasawa, Fiji -› …
(another old entry out of the archives)December 16th 2004 At times life can be slow, relaxing; however, the past couple days have to be far from anything considered slow. My journey on the Intercity bus from Christchurch to Queenstown was filled with hazy semi-concious mirages of p…

Nadi, Fiji -› Yasawas, Fiji -› …
This morning was an early start as we had to be at the Port by 8:00am to catch the Yasawa Flyer at 08:30am. The weather could have been better but I had a good feeling once we hit the Yasawa Group, the sky would clear. We were told that we where heading for the Top Island in the Yasawa'…

Hyden, Australia -› Albany, Australia -› …
The village of Hyden is located 350km East of Perth. It is a long detour on the way to Albany but we were both interested to take a look at this impressive granite cliff, 15 meters high and 110 meters long shaped like a giant wave by the erosion. And it is quite spectacular!
Fe couldn't resist jum…

Christchurch is one of the most beautiful cities in New Zealand, certainly it is the largest city in the South Island.
The city is built along the lovely Avon River, a wonderful asset to the city, with its willow lined banks and fresh open water ways used by many for punt rides and canooing.
