Ocean Pacific Reviews
Wild and wacky Jun 11, 2008
The Ocean Pacific is expensive by Chile standards. The food is acceptable--though I have had better pisco sour. But the decor! The whole place is like being inside a submarine with narrow passage-ways, watertight doors to the bathrooms, curved ceilings. Each room is decorated with military memorabilia and weapons or sea-related materials like whale bones. It is as if someone had been to Pablo Neruda's house in Isla Negra, dropped some acid and went wild! The room we ate in had a bomb under the table and torpedos hanging from the ceiling. The next room had more torpedos and a radar display with flashing lights on the wall. A decent setting for night out with a group but don't go for the food-dress up and enjoy the ambience.

As I've learned, Chile is the only country that encompasses desert that meets the ocean. Tuesday, we went to a bodega(winery) all morning. It was nice to be able to actually drink the wine! Elizabeth and I ordered an appetizer and a taste… Words and Pictures Don't Do This Justice |

The flight stayed over the Pacific Ocean for the most part, skirting Columbia, Ecuador, and Peru, before arriving in Chile.
Served a decent dinner on LAN, along with complimentary wine (nothing fancy but didn't have to pay for it like one would on a US airline). After dinner… Slipping through Santiago |

Santiago, situated between the Pacific Ocean and Andes Mountains at the centre of 4,000-kilometres (2,485 miles)-long Chile, was established as an outpost at the most distant reaches of Spain's colonial empire. It later serviced large farms, or haciendas, and remained rural in character until… SPANISH OUTPOST |
