We found this amazing vegetarian restaurant just around the corner from Niijo Castle. It is a predominantley vegan restaurant with only one or two dishes containing eggs; the woman who greated us let us know right away which were the eggy dishes and that the rest was vegan. We paid for our lunch as soon as we entered (840 yen each)and then were free to gorge ourselves on the amazing buffet spread! Miso soup, tea, choice of rices, noodles, a number of tofu dishes in a variety of different sauces, veg, fried potato ball type delicacies and the list goes on!
Not only was the food exceptional and the staff friendly, the atmosphere was warm and inviting, with cosy wood interior. It was so good that we went back for another helping on our last day in Kyoto as well. Part of the Japan, 19th to the 30th November 2007 travel blog |
