Oaxaca Grill Eureka Reviews
Family Run ~ Great Food Apr 13, 2010
David and I decided to go to lunch at the Oaxaca Grill. We had never gone there and wanted to try their food. When we walked in we loved the decor and the music. Each of the booths had a mexican shawl across the back and the music was "Modern Mexican". We noticed each table had a fresh flower. The restaurant was very clean.
The waitress (Marie Belle) was very prompt. She quickly brought us water and got our drinks. I got Mexican hot chocolate and David got coffee. Both of us loved them. David noticed a subtle chocolate flavor to the coffee and asked about it. The waitress said her grandma send it from Oaxaca ... she doesn't know the ingredients but knows it's genuine mexican coffee... delicious!
We were given chips and salsa. The salsa was really good: not runny like a lot of them. And the hot one was HOT!
I ordered Super Nachos and David ordered Chicken Mole. They were both very good. It was unusual presentation for the nachos: the chips were flat on the plate with cheese: the sour cream, salsa, olives, guacamole and jalapeno peppers were around the edges. Very nice. David's Mole was really good. His order came with a salad and he went to the salad bar to get it... nice feature! The Chicken Mole had a nice amount of dark, flavorful sauce with rice and refried beans.
David took pictures of the interior and the exterior. The cook came out to see how our meal was. (It came out the waitress was her daughter) She told us they are trying to add more things that are from the Oaxaco area. She said they make their own salsa. (We saw at the cash register that they market it) She is very proud of the coffee and delighted that David liked it.
The prices were not "cheap" but they weren't through the roof either. The food was above average and well worth it. We'll go back as the food was excellent and we really like to support family run restaurants. Especially one like this with regional Oaxaco food.
