Had a great visit out west,mostly to southern Utah. Visited many national and state parks. I think my favorites were Zion NP and Kodachrome SP, though it is tough to choose. Anyway, I don't need to go to Europe now because all the Europeans were over here :). I'd estimate 80% or more of the people in the national parks were from Europe (even more when you got on the trails). Met many great people from all over. This is a beautiful part of the world. Our room at the Comfort Inn in Kingman was sitting right on historic Route 66, which would take us to the tiny town of Oatman, Arizona.  All we had to do was pull out of the parking lot and turn right.   Once we passed out of the Kingman city limits, the well-maintained 4-lane highway changed into a narrow twisty-turny road with no shoulders and in desperate need of repair.  Oatman is a mining town in the Black Mountains of Mohave County, Arizona.  It bega…

We went to Oatman, AZ on May 5, 2008.  This is a neat little ghost/mining town.  They put on little shows in the street having gun fights to raise money for charity.  There are mules wondering about the town which you can buy carrots to feed them.  There is a hotel that has a ghost "Odie" haunting it.  He died behind the hotel.  I didn't see him or hear his spirit as they told us when we were there.  Next door there is a neat bar.  People sign the…
