With its dramatic double row of old growth oak, Oak Alley's a great plantation to visit. The restaurant is a bit tourist trappy, though. The prices are a bit on the high side for the quality of food that was served. But, as is the bonus of most touristy place, the portions are plentiful. The appetizer platter will fill you up with a deep fried array of onion rings, duck "fingers" and catfish nuggets, but I've eaten much better etouffee elsewhere. The bread pudding with whiskey sauce is very nice, if not outstanding. They do serve mint juleps, though, which always make me want to don something seersucker, hang out on the porch in a rocker, and fan away the southern plantation summer.
Mint Julep!
