I just moved off Oahu after 4 years of living there and can tell ya that renting a car and taking a drive around the shore is AMAZING and its a great way to scope out some culture and great views. Its the shortest coast drive of all the islands and is definitely worth it. On July 26th I said good-bye to my family, boarded my plane and took off.  I was pretty proud of myself, because my mom was in tears, even my dad was sad.  I was okay until I looked out the window on the runway, saw the Budweiser plant (only in Jersey) and started to cry.  My grandpa worked there and when I saw the spinning eagle getting smaller and smaller I knew I was really leaving. Beautiful islands with amazing beaches and volcanic mountains. Very scenic, a real paradise. Before going to Hawaii, my expectations were not very high. I thought it was gong to be too touristy and crowded, but it wasn´t! (except for Honolulu and Waikiki, in Oahu). I really got amazed by the beauty of the islands. Next time, the Big Island!

We went to Oahu, Hawaii in March of 2007. We stayed in Waikiki and had a lot of fun. We snorkeled at Waikiki Beach, Hanauma Bay, and took a snorkel trip through the hotel. We visited Pearl Harbor, climbed Diamond Head, road ATVs through Kualoa Ranch, and swam with dolphins at Sea Life Park.

Oahu is great once you get out of Waikiki and Honolulu. The untouched west coast and north shore are amazing!

Every year the US Coast Guard Admiral who is the Commander of the Pacific Region and lives in the Diamond Head Lighthouse has an open house for the public.  Guests can climb the stairs to get a unique view of Honolulu and the crystal clear waters off Oahu, Hawaii.  We enjoyed our tour and the views, plus we were able to find the beach where Jenny and her mother had thier photo taken in February 1969 with the Diamond Head Lighthouse in the background during Jenny's Father's leave dur…

Hawaii will always rank up there as one of my favorite places in the world. Before I visited Africa, it was as earthy, low-maintenance and paradisical as I've ever experienced. This was an especially nice trip for me, as I was in sales, had free reign over my schedule. I remember fielding a call from Joyce on a Tuesday afternoon. She said "Jenn, it is so beautiful here. These are some photos from my first trip to Hawaii. I was on the island of Oahu for the majority of the trip, though I flew back home through Kona on the Big Island.
