Nukkad Guest House Udaipur Reviews
Left next morning! Jan 23, 2013
Yes, Nukkad Guest house is beautiful and well located, we had read great reviews and suggestions on the Lonely Planet, but once we got there we got a different opinion.
We waited for 2 hours on the beautiful rooftop for a room, Nukkad promised us a beautiful double room which was becoming free in a couple of hours, so we had breakfast while we waited.
We had to discuss the price, as there was a "surprise" increase.
After a couple of hours (and we were very tired from all the traveling) we noticed another couple arriving and waiting to get a room as well. Suddenly, Nukkad gave that couple the room we had booked before and were waiting for 2 hours! Right in front of our face!
We know he gave them the room, because they were willing to pay much more money that us.
We were really upset with this.
So when we decided to search for another place, Nukkad promised us a really great room. We hoped we coulld trust him again.
It was after all, a room without windows, no ventilation, on the ground floor, it was so loud and expensive (yes, we had to discuss the price once more for what he asked was pathetic).
We slept there that night and next morning moved to a really nice family ran guest house, where we felt at home, and 60% cheaper.
I really think Nukkad takes advantage of the good reviews and lonely planet tip, to cheat the costumers, but I now realise they also have bad reviews for the same reason.
For this, i considered the place poor. The food was not amazing neither, it was cold. Staff was not that friendly.
Stayed 2010, traveled as a couple

Mid-Range, Friendly, Family Run Guesthouse Apr 06, 2009
Located only a 5 minute walk from the Center of Town the Nukkad is ideally located for those who want to really explore Udaipur.
Raju, the manager, is very friendly, approachable and experienced in foreign travelers and their needs.
The Guesthouse has 16 clean spacious rooms with a variety of views at quirky angles ranging from simple single rooms to treble rooms with a four poster bed.
All the rooms I saw where en-suite with hot showers (Solar Heated Hot water, so it'll take a moment) although there is a communal shower and traditional Indian Toilet upstairs available for any guest to use.
The rooftop restaurant offers some views over the lake, although at time of writing the lake was almost dry.
Raju's wife is a capable cook offering Veg and Non-Veg Dishes along with the usual Chinese, Israeli and Continental offerings.
Cooking lessons are also available along with Yoga at Sunrise, Bus, Train and Air Ticket booking, Money Changing and much more!
There is even a computer with internet access on site.
Overall I'd rate my experience at Nukkad Guesthouse to be a favorable one, it's a place that I'd gladly return to again.
