Novotel Paris Gare de Lyon Reviews
Novotel across the train station Apr 14, 2016
As we are arriving by train from Switzerland, we decided to pick this hotel near the train station Gare de Lyon. We stayed here for 3 nights during the Easter break this year.
Located within 5 minutes walk from the train station. Across the huge carpark on the opp street.
Eating options are readily avail
Has an indoor pool, gym
Fast check-in if you are an Accor Hotel CLub Member
Complimentary water, tea/coffee making facilities in the room
Spacious bathroom and separate toilet.
Breakfast is not inclusive, you have to pay EUR16 per person
Close to the train station - your way to the hotel is met up with beggars, people sleeping in the streets, pee smell which is common in streets of Paris esp near train stations.
For a quick stay its good. But considering there is a well-linked metro system, there is no need to stay near the train station. There are many places which are "nicer / pleasant to the eye" to stay in Paris.

overprised Paris tourist rip-off May 01, 2011
I was not at all pleased about this hotel, what a shame!
it already started after making the reservation, my friend would be arriving early around 7 am at the hotel after flying from Milan so i requested that he could occupy the room earlier than the time stated on their website but that wasn't possible at all, so my friend had to wander around the city for 5!! more hours after a night of litlle sleep.
Second problem arose when i arrived. I went to check in but the lady at the front desk just didn't understand my request even though i was speaking in French and i told her i just needed to pay the hotel and get a second key. It took her around 20 min to find the room and tell me it had already been paid for by Visa, i however didn't get any notice of this in advance, something i think is appropriate!
Then i got to the room which to me was pretty disappointing! it was small, the carpet was outdated and looked old, the beds were small and under standard for the 4 stars they get, the batroom also was outdated and you almost couldn't shower without flooding the batroom. If i had paid less or the hotel had a lower rating i wouldn't really mind but for 125 euro's a night without breakfast is a 4 star hotel i expected something more!
In the morning we decided to go swimming, first thing i noticed was that the changing space wasn't really clean and it could really use a little redoing, also it didn't smell very fresh in there. There also was a toilet there but the door didn't lock so you didn't really have any private space to change into your swimming gear of get redressed after swimming.
The pool itself was actually really cold for an inside pool and the space again needed to be updated, i could see a lot of rusty spots around the pool and if you compare it to the pictures on the websites it just looks old.
At the check-out everything went smoothly but it's kinda the only good thing i have to say about this hotel!
My advise, don't go here, but instead rent a short term appartment when staying in Paris!
Pleasant Hotel, convenient location Jun 11, 2010
Having considered Novotel a down-market brand, we had some reluctance in booking the room but did so because of its proximity to Gare de Lyon. We we’re however, quite pleased with it. The room, while certainly not luxurious, was clean and well maintained. The public areas were nice and the staff was great. There is both a restaurant and bar off the lobby but we visited neither during our short stay.
A door at the rear of the hotel leads to La Place Henri Fresnay. From there one can either climb some wide outside steps to the main level of the train station or, walking just a bit further, enter the lower level without schlepping the bags up the steps. Either way, access to the station can be had without even crossing a street.
Having become accustomed to arriving exhausted from an overnight trip from the States only to find that rooms are not available until mid afternoon or later, we were pleased and delighted that our rooms were immediately available.
