Beautiful Architecture Jun 27, 2011
I took a tour inside the Notre Dame Basillica as part of a larger walking tour of the Old Montreal area. It is very reasonable to go just inside the building, $5, and the tour started right out on the front steps. They look like they're held a couple times a day, every day.

The architecture and craftsmanship inside are just amazing. From the tour we learned that today's artists are not able to do the kind of work that was done to create the main area. So anything that gets damaged can not be replaced or restored. Very sad, and while the new chapel area is also very beautiful you can easily tell there is a significant difference.

Must-see Jul 31, 2010
Found in Old Montreal, and one of the biggest attractions in the city, Notre Dame was inaugurated in 1829. The church is beautiful, and absolutely a must-see! The church is open to visitors every day: Monday-Friday 8am to 4:30pm, Saturday 8am to 4pm, Sunday 12:30pm to 4pm. Guided tours are available, although not between 4pm on Saturday to 12pm on Sunday. The church is also open to prayer every day. However, there are also wedding ceremonies, funerals, and baptisms held at the church, so some of the church schedules can be disrupted from time to time. Admission costs $5 and you can spend as much time as you want in the church. And yes, you can take photos inside. Guided tours normally take place every hour on the hour and half hour. For the nightly light show, admission costs $10.
