Nostos Hotel Skiathos

The sole aim of this review is to raise public awareness about yet another rough company in timeshare and to prevent more people becoming victims of their bad sales practices and misrepresentation.
If you are tourist visiting Skiathos, RCI member that booked holiday on Skiathos or you are working in the timeshare industry PLEASE READ CAREFULLY!

Pretty much everything about NSVC is fake, starting from their web page where they are presenting themselves as a "group" of resorts. The fact is they own only 1 (one) resort in Skiathos split into 2 parts, the rest of the "group" are hotels owned by other companies where NSVC rents few rooms/apartments on a yearly bases so they can misrepresent their accommodation capacity in Greece.
The resort they own was built in 1974 and since then was not renovated, apart from about 20 apartments known as "Nostos Suites" that have been renovated in 2004. The aim of that renovation was that they can show half decent quality of accommodation to potential clients brought to the resort by their touts and sell them a membership of the club. Unfortunately for those tourists, now proud members of the club, when they want to book a holiday on Skiathos they end up staying in "Nostos Village" bungalows. Those bungalows are part of the resort that had no renovation for 34 years and they are referred to by guests and members of staff as "monkey caves".
If you are tourist visiting Skiathos, be warned that down in the port, bus stop no.4 or somewhere around Trulos or Koukounaries beach during your stay on the island you will be approached by timeshare touts working for Nostos with scratch cards or "holiday surveys" (they even go that far to tell you it´s Greek tourist organization survey?!?) and yes, you will win a holiday!!!
If you decide to go with them straight away to collect your "prize", you will attend good old high pressure timeshare presentation that can last for hours. They will insist that you sign contract there and then, and they will even "kindly" organize taxi or they own driver to take you to your hotel so you can get your credit card and make a payment.
The only truth they´ll tell you is that it is not a timeshare, and soon after you would wish it was! Any contract regarding holiday accommodation in timeshare resorts with a duration of 3 years ( 36 months ) or longer is considered a timeshare contract and by law it must have 14 days cooling off period, however you will realize that the contract you´ve signed is for a duration of 35 months and of course you won´t get 14 days cooling off period. Way of taking money that illustrates bad practice, bad service and bad quality throughout this company.

If you are RCI member who is exchanging week or points to book a holiday on Skiathos please be warned that you will be staying in the resort that is considered by RCI as one of the worst in the world. As a member of RCI you have a right to know about huge numbers of complaints they are getting every year about this resort, knowing this try to book your holiday somewhere else to avoid massive disappointment.
As illustration of what you can expect if you are staying at Nostos I am listing some of the most usual complaints.
* You will be walking 250-400 steps most of the days as the funicular (elevator) is usually out of order. Steps are very unsafe and number of guests were injured and taken to the hospital in Volos by boat. If you happen to be in the elevator when it breaks down be prepared for a long wait before someone comes to help you or you could try to force the door open and jump over the fence risking a injury as some guests did.
* Rooms at Nostos are so old and dump that apart from bad smell you will face serious risk of ceiling collapsing on your bed or whole sink coming off the wall in the bathroom on your legs as some guests experienced.
* Regarding apartment and resort amenities and facilities, simply there are none. Partial kitchens are just about well equipped that you can make a cup of tea ( there are no kettles in them so you´ll boil the water in pot or pan), forget about cooking meals. On TV you´ll have 1 Greek channel, AC usually do not work, nearest internet access is 5 miles away, there is no stereo... Overall rooms are much worse than basic Greek standard, that's why they are called "monkey caves".
There are no showers around the pool, they don´t provide towels, no changing rooms, no gym, no indoor facilities at all in case you have bad weather while there, no activities for children or adults...
* Staff is new every year with few exceptions, usually nice and polite but definitely not well trained and not well paid. If you choose to write about your bad experience in the hotel guest book, they will try to hide it from you. Even if you manage to write it, as soon as you leave they´ll just take that page out, or simply start a new guest book!
When staying at Nostos, bad service and bad sales practice will continue, promising you a world and not delivering anything, so my best advice is don´t hand over your money to them as you will soon realize that you´ve been cheated.

If you are working in the timeshare industry, be warned that this company will insist you using bad sales practice, they´ll train you to cheat and lie to potential clients and at the end of it they´ll get rid of you and steal your wages. It is as simple as that.
