Adam, Chippendale - what more do you want? Nov 23, 2010
Nostell Priory is not one and never was - priory I mean. It is built on the site of a medieval priory and has a large estate. The gardens include lakeside walks, a newly planted orchard and an adventure playground.

The house was built in 1733 and later additions were designed by Robert Adam. Hence some of the room interiors are outstanding. The library is particularly noted, not only for Adam's design but for original Chippendale furniture made for Nostell and a collection of 4000 books from the 19th century.

You may be surprised at a man raving about a dollshouse However this is the single feature of the house that I remember best. It was made in the 18th century and displays the upper crust life of the times with brilliant craftsmanship.
