I'm convinced there is no better way to arrive in Norway than by boat.  We took the Color Line Ferry from Kiel, Germany, which weaves its way through the islands around Denmark.  I braved the winds and took in the scenery from the upper deck until it began to grow dark- for those not up for the chill there are many large windows with chairs and tables downstairs.  Cabins were wonderful-- four per room, with bathroom and shower ensuite.  By the time you wake ...

Different places and different times. Some pics are from way back in 1980, when I was on vacation with my family. The others are from a 8 day trip with a friend, where it seemed we were trying to get as far as possible in the shortest amount of time. lol

I love Norwegian cheese and the cheese slicer! We started the day with the Vikingship museum. Those boats and objects are amazing! It is so impressive and really interesting. Then, even if it was under a pouring rain, we decided to walk around Oslo’s street. We started at the Royal Palace and went down the street to the National Theatre to finish at the Centraal Station, including stops to do some shopping. I really liked it, but I definitely will have to go back there to have a better i...

It was a wonderful, hot day. A perfect day to meet new friends. I headed in to Oslo and met Judge outside the hotel they were staying at around 6.30pm. After a few minutes we went up to their room where I also met Dave. As there were a Music Festival in town, Judge had found that his favorite band was gonna play at a place called Rockefeller, so we headed over there to see if they started selling the tickets earlier. Which they didn't, so we walked thru town and down to Aker ...

Wonderful Andrew comes for a 2 hour bus ride just to collect me from the airport, wait around for another hour or so and then take the return bus for a 2 hours ride back to his.  I get off the plane and the trees are all beautifully while and glistening (even though it is after 10pm).  Am promised that it will be like this for the next few days so leave the camera packed away.  Turns out the glistening I saw was mostly from raindrops - still, don't let it be said I didn't enjoy...

By now our European wanderings have covered just over 5,000 miles ( approx 8,000kms) and we are about to see some of the biggest contrasts yet in this stunning land.  As fast as I add a new word to my vocabulary from a new language, we leave that country.....  toalett ( toilet) and motet (exit) and Fyll upen tanken ( that one is easy!). It rainsovernight and we get more showers on the way to Oslo.  Over more brigdes of incredible engineering feats and lakes start to ...

So nothing special in the last full day of my trip and it didn't get too interesting in the end either. I packed my things, left the key to the reception, catched a bus to the airport, bought a Norwegian flag -sticker and flew to Helsinki through Stockholm.Though the trip itself sucked from the beginnin till the end, Norway was really nice. Norwegian people are much more like Finns than Swedes are. Calm and so on. The ski centers would be nice to check out some winter. Heja Norge!

Very pretty train-trip from Gothenburg to Oslo. Quite tired now, so might just have a meal and a quick beer.  I stayed at the Best Western Hotel for a couple of days. The hotel itself is pretty good, with a restaurant attached to it - where you get a discount, being a guest. However - the main problem for me was the noise; there was a local football team playing and I discovered that the locals congregate in this bar and party till 4am. Went to the Munch musem (http://www.munch.museum.no...
