Northumberland Kings Cross Hotel

Me and Olga stayed in the Northumberland Hotel in the Kings Cross area of London as we had a very early departure with Eurostar to France one morning.

The location is excellent, directly opposite Kings Cross and St Pancras station so that was great, and only took us two minutes to walk to the stations.

On arrival, got a warm welcome by the staff member on night duty and paid him the £47 to stay for the night, which doesn't include breakfast.

Then the fun begins. There are no elevators in this place, and I had two pieces of luggage to take up to the forth floor (which was the top level). Small staircase awaits, and I'm dragging the luggage against the rioting wallpaper.

All the floors had red carpets which gave the place a seedy feel, and reminds me of stories which were told by the railway staff across the road, that these sort of places are used by certain people who loved to get paid at night :O

The room, well, all it had was a bed and a shelf! The bed was so hard it was difficult for me to get comfortable. The ceiling was falling to pieces in places, and the room was cold. There was nothing else in the room, not even a television.

The washroom is located in the next room to us, so all the guests have to share! The water didn't run out of the shower like it should do, and the water was cold. Toilet and sink was fine. Not sure about the lock on the door mind you.

In all, I hated this hotel, and glad that I only had to stay here a few hours! Never again!
