A good view of Auckland and its past Aug 02, 2008

A good view of all around auckland. Also a good walk, you can walk all through the tunnels and around the edge of the mountain.
We only just discovered, but at the top there is a small museum like thing with a video of the reason for the mountain.

Really recommend going here, especially on a nice day. Or even a windy day when you can see all the kite surfers down on the beach.

We then headed to Devenport on th coack for some fish and chips, but i got a hot dog which turned out to be more of a corn dog in batter on a stick..... After we finished lucnh we went top north Head which was a dorment… Day 71, Free Auckland Day Trip....

The main cones are Mt Eden (Maungawhau), One Tree Hill (Maungakiekie) also Mt Victoria and North Head on Auckland's North Shore. All mentioned have vehicle access and Mt Eden has coach tour operaters running regular trips to its summit. Rangitoto Island is also a must see and is only a short cruise from downtown Auckland. Although it was lovely, we decided not to stay in Wellington and headed north to Napier as we wanted to be somewhere nice for Adam's birthday the next day. From the top of either Mt Victoria or North Head there are great views out to sea or back across the harbor to Auckland .
