By the time we reached North Cascades National Park, It was still light out, but the visitor's center was closed. No passport stamp today! The park's  boundrys are actually north and south of the main road, but it it still a beautiful forested mountain area.   I would like to come back here some day and spend a week backpacking.  We stopped for pictures at a few overlooks and saw several more deer.  Also heard something very large tromping through the thick underbrush...

8.27.08   Leaving Vancouver via Canada 1 Hwy around 10am was a good move.  Although a crowded highway, the speed limit near 50 mph made it a reasonable drive.    The Sumas border crossing was a bit crowded, but our agent was nice and we were happy to be back in the good ole’ U.S.A.!   We drove the beautiful rural roads to North Cascades National Park, which was gorgeous with glacial rivers and lakes and “magic fairy rainforests” ��"with green moss co...
