When it isn't raining Barton Springs is the place to escape the Texas heat. It only costs about 2 dollars I believe to get in. The spring water is cold all year round and its great for cooling off. Bring plenty of sun block, water, sunglasses and a towel and you should be set to go.

Denver International is a beautiful airport - huge I might add and very clean. If I had to have a 5 hour layover, I would gladly spend it in Denver.

The much anticipated Fort Lauderdale meet-up was being organized by Joanne (Flyinhigh) in honour of the charming British Travbuddy Caroline (cazular). After what seemed like a really short chat with Joanne about it, I made up my mind that I would like to attend the meet-up, this of course was follow…

"Safe" in terms of crime or in terms of water quality? There's no need to worry about crime at any of the beaches, though I'd be mildly cautious about walking around certain parts of Venice or Santa Monica beaches at night. If I'm not mistaken, the worst ocean water quality in town is in parts of Ma…

There are, in reality, two cities here: Washington (the nations Capitol) and the DC (a city where 500,000 people live and work, most of them *not* for the federal government).
Washington has monuments and museums and tours and fine restaurants and memorial parks. It is fairly compact. 6 blocks o…

No doubt that Los Angeles is a difficult city to grasp, especially in a short amount of time, but here are some suggestions for getting the most out of your visit.
FOR EVERYONE
#1 - Venice Boardwalk. In a city with few major parks and streets designed more for cars than humans, the Venice board…

I flew US Airways to Amsterdam to attend the then very popular New Years Eve Travbuddy Meet-up: I must say I did not even know that they had International flights to Europe until my travel consultant Malcom told me I could save $400 by using an "American Carrier". I went from a $920 ticket on Britis…

This company is absolutely criminal. I purchased a ticket from their website for a specific date and time. They also sell paper round-trip tickets that are open, and they don't keep any of this on the books. The result? They overbooked the bus from DC-Philly by like 300% and at least 15 people were …

Outside of Honolulu Walmart, Kmart, and Borders are the best places to get the tourist stuff. These Big Box stores beat prices and have more stock to chose from.
Have no shame in going to these places.

I had the same problem: I love working with a 35mm camera. Digitals were never fast coming up and had lag time before I could take a picture... Plus: on sunny days I had a heck of a time finding the image in the digital view finder.... so I checked with a local camera store, Swanlunds, and they r…
